Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame
- Natchitoches, Louisiana
Technical Hurdles:The Louisiana State Sports Hall of Fame and History Museum is a 27,000-square-foot, two-story facility located in historic Natchitoches, LA. ADG’s challenge was to design mechanical systems that could protect sensitive exhibits while delivering occupant comfort in a high-traffic public environment. This required precise temperature and humidity control for both sports memorabilia and Louisiana history exhibits, while also integrating energy-saving strategies without compromising preservation needs.
Logistical Constraints:As a public facility located in a historic district, the project required careful coordination to meet both modern performance standards and aesthetic considerations. Installation of the air-cooled chiller system, chilled water pumps, VAV air handling units, and electric strip-heated VAV boxes had to be sequenced to fit within the building’s compact mechanical spaces while ensuring uninterrupted exhibit preservation during operation.
Client Satisfaction & Benefits
The client praised ADG for delivering a reliable, efficient climate control system that ensures long-term protection of exhibits while maintaining visitor comfort. The building’s energy management system (EMS) optimizes mechanical and lighting operations based on occupancy, reducing energy costs and operational impact.
Advanced Technology : ADG incorporated a central EMS to automate mechanical and lighting controls, ensuring precise conditions for exhibit preservation. The HVAC design included air-cooled chillers, VAV air handling units, and electric strip-heated VAV boxes to maintain both temperature and humidity at optimal levels for artifacts and visitor areas.
