Technical Hurdles:The Crescent City Surgical Center project involved designing systems for a 5-story concrete structure with a unique mixed-use layout — a three-story parking garage below a two-story specialty surgical hospital. ADG’s MEP/FP designs had to accommodate both the high-performance demands of surgical facilities and the infrastructure needs of a multi-level parking structure. The surgical areas required specialized mechanical systems to support operating rooms, pre-op areas, recovery spaces, imaging rooms, and patient rooms while ensuring strict compliance with healthcare codes and standards.
Logistical Constraints:Working within a 25,000-square-foot building footprint constructed on the site of a former parking lot required precise planning to optimize space utilization. The integration of a mechanical yard, storage rooms, and hospital-grade systems within the limited upper floors demanded creative engineering solutions. Coordinating work across parking garage levels, imaging rooms, and critical care areas required careful sequencing to meet construction timelines without disrupting other trade activities.
