Independence Park Library
- Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Technical Hurdles:Associated Design Group, Inc. provided mechanical and plumbing systems design for the 129,500-square-foot, three-story Independence Park Library in Baton Rouge. The facility was designed with LEED certification standards in mind, requiring advanced strategies to balance sustainability, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort. Systems were engineered to support a wide range of specialized spaces, including large meeting rooms, genealogy reading rooms, study areas, a children’s section, and craft spaces, each with unique HVAC and plumbing requirements.
Logistical Constraints:The project required careful integration of sustainable technologies while maintaining the architectural vision for an open, inviting environment. Mechanical and plumbing infrastructure had to be discretely incorporated to preserve aesthetics and functionality, particularly in high-traffic public areas. Coordination across multiple design teams ensured that all systems aligned with the library’s role as both a learning hub and community gathering space.
