Technical Hurdles:Associated Design Group, Inc. provided Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP/FP) design services for the Lafayette Parish Public Safety Complex, a 29-acre development consisting of four primary buildings. The complex includes a 300-person work release center, a 60,000-square-foot industries/warehouse and intake facility, a 200-person outside worker dormitory, and a video visitation and training building.
Logistical Constraints:Though the facility was not pursuing LEED certification, the design incorporated sustainable strategies such as high-efficiency HVAC systems, energy-efficient lighting, and water-conserving plumbing fixtures. Coordination across multiple building types required phased planning to ensure that security systems, utilities, and life-safety measures aligned seamlessly across the entire development.
