Technical Hurdles:Associated Design Group, Inc. has provided engineering services for this healthcare facility since 1979, supporting continuous upgrades and expansions across the hospital’s 577,328-square-foot main campus. In 2000, ADG completed the design for the new Women’s Hospital (Gauthier Campus), which included a 105,274-square-foot Women’s Hospital, a 48,788-square-foot two-story Medical Office Building (MOB), and a 10,354-square-foot central plant. Services included the design of mechanical and electrical systems for critical hospital spaces such as operating rooms, intensive care units, patient rooms, nursery facilities, and emergency care departments.
Logistical Constraints:The project required the integration of new facilities and central plant infrastructure into an active medical campus, ensuring continuity of patient care during construction. Special design focus was placed on power reliability, redundancy, and life-safety systems, including a new power plant capable of supporting sensitive medical equipment. Coordination across multiple buildings demanded precise phasing and compliance with healthcare safety standards.
