Moncus Park
- Lafayette, Louisiana
Technical Hurdles:Associated Design Group, Inc. provided electrical, mechanical, and plumbing engineering design for multiple phases of Moncus Park’s Master Plan. Initial work established a power distribution loop across the park, delivering reliable energy to support future growth. Lighting systems were designed for entryways, pathways, and parking areas, ensuring safety and accessibility after dark. Later phases expanded to include infrastructure for restroom buildings, splash pads, a farmers market pavilion, dog park, veterans memorial, and playground, each requiring unique utility coordination within a public, outdoor setting.
Logistical Constraints:The park, once known as “The Horse Farm,” required careful integration of modern infrastructure within a historic landscape. Systems had to be designed with both durability and sustainability in mind to accommodate heavy public use while preserving the natural character of the site. Engineering design also accounted for phased construction sequencing, allowing different park elements to come online while others were still in development.
Client Satisfaction & Benefits
Moncus Park has become Lafayette’s premier urban park, blending community gathering spaces with natural beauty. The infrastructure designed by ADG enables long-term reliability, safety, and comfort for park visitors, supporting recreational activities, farmers markets, and cultural events. By transforming the former Horse Farm into a dynamic public space, the project strengthens community connections and enhances quality of life in Lafayette.
Advanced Technology :Key systems include energy-efficient LED lighting, splash pad water distribution and treatment systems, and resilient utility infrastructure capable of supporting large public events. The electrical distribution loop ensures scalable growth as additional phases of the park are developed, making Moncus Park a sustainable and enduring community asset.
