Technical Hurdles:Since 1985, Associated Design Group, Inc. has provided MEP/FP design services for Opelousas General Health System across its main and south campuses. Major projects included the design of a new five-story patient tower and an adjacent parking garage, supported by extensive infrastructure upgrades. ADG’s scope of work included installation of water-cooled chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, plumbing, fire protection, and medical gas systems. Additional design efforts supported new CT Scan and MRI suites, as well as pharmacy renovations ensuring compliance with USP-797 and USP-800 standards.
Logistical Constraints:The hospital’s continued operation required careful phasing and integration of new systems with existing infrastructure. Projects such as ICU expansions and COVID-19 emergency ventilation modifications demanded fast-tracked solutions while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance. Each renovation and addition had to meet the demands of a modern healthcare environment while minimizing disruptions to patient care.
