Technical Hurdles:Associated Design Group, Inc. provided mechanical and electrical engineering design for the new 84,000-square-foot Our Lady of the Sea General Hospital, a replacement facility built after the devastation of Hurricane Ida (2021). The hospital includes a 15-bed Inpatient Unit, 9-bed Emergency Department, and a comprehensive suite of diagnostic and treatment services including Lab, Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary, and Imaging. The Imaging Department incorporates advanced technologies such as CT, MRI, Radiology, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Dexa, and Ultrasound, ensuring state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities.
Logistical Constraints:The South Lafourche community had been without a hospital since Hurricane Ida, making resiliency and rapid delivery essential. ADG designed systems to be hurricane-resistant, ensuring continuous operation during severe storm events. Additional program requirements included Administration and Business offices, as well as a large Community Room for public outreach, education, and emergency coordination.
Client Satisfaction & Benefits
The facility restores vital healthcare access to the South Lafourche community while providing modernized patient care environments. The inclusion of advanced imaging and emergency services enhances the hospital’s ability to serve as a regional healthcare anchor. The resilient design ensures continuity of care during hurricanes and natural disasters, safeguarding both patients and staff.
Advanced Technology :Key systems include hurricane-rated mechanical and electrical infrastructure, redundant power distribution, and high-efficiency HVAC systems engineered for storm-prone environments. These features ensure that this mission-critical hospital will remain operational, delivering lifesaving services even under extreme conditions.
