Rosa Parks Transportation Center
- Lafayette, Louisiana
Technical Hurdles:Associated Design Group, Inc. delivered Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP/FP) design services for the Rosa Parks Transportation Center, a multi-phase municipal project that combined the renovation of a historic train depot with the construction of a new two-story multipurpose building. The facility houses offices for the City of Lafayette Traffic and Transportation Department and includes a U.S. Post Office branch.
Logistical Constraints:The project required seamless integration of modern systems into a historic structure while ensuring energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness. ADG designed a central chiller and boiler plant with Variable Air Volume (VAV) air conditioning systems, paired with energy modeling and life-cycle cost analysis for the Post Office tenant. A facility automation system was implemented to monitor and optimize energy usage across both new and renovated spaces.
Client Satisfaction & Benefits
The Transportation Center successfully preserves Lafayette’s historic character while introducing a state-of-the-art municipal hub that improves both public services and operational efficiency. With the energy modeling and monitoring systems, the project provides long-term savings, reduced maintenance, and improved occupant comfort.
Advanced Technology :Key features include a high-performance chiller and boiler plant, integrated building automation system, and energy modeling tools that allowed stakeholders to evaluate life-cycle performance and make informed investment decisions.
