Southside High School
- Lafayette, Louisiana
Technical Hurdles: The construction of the 263,000-square-foot, three-story Southside High School required a full MEP/FP system design to meet the client’s goals for efficiency, safety, and sustainability. As a fast-track project set for completion in just 12 months, ADG had to coordinate complex system layouts while ensuring compliance with LEED® certification standards. Integrating sustainable technologies into a large-scale educational facility required careful planning to balance performance, comfort, and energy efficiency.
Logistical Constraints:The accelerated schedule under a Construction Management At Risk (CMAR) delivery method demanded precise coordination between design and construction teams. Tight deadlines required MEP/FP drawings to be completed on time to allow for phased construction. Working within an active construction environment meant system installations had to be synchronized with multiple trades to avoid delays.
Client Satisfaction & Benefits
The client praised ADG for delivering high-quality designs on schedule, enabling the school to open on time while achieving its LEED® sustainability goals. The facility now provides a modern, efficient, and comfortable learning environment, with systems designed to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
Advanced Technology : ADG utilized state-of-the-art MEP/FP design software to coordinate layouts, detect potential conflicts early, and ensure seamless integration of all building systems. Sustainable design strategies were incorporated to meet LEED® requirements, including energy-efficient HVAC, advanced lighting controls, and water-saving plumbing systems.
