Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government Juvenile Justice Center
- Gray, Louisiana
Technical Hurdles:Associated Design Group, Inc. provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP/FP) design services for the 25,064-square-foot Terrebonne Parish Juvenile Justice Center. The facility includes four housing units, recreation areas, dining facilities, medical spaces, and administrative offices. To meet the needs of a secure justice environment, the systems required specialized reliability, redundancy, and efficiency measures.
Logistical Constraints:The building is conditioned by a remotely located central utility plant equipped with water-cooled chillers and gas-fired boilers, distributing hydronic heating and cooling water to the air handling units throughout the complex. Recognizing the site’s vulnerability in a hurricane-prone region, ADG integrated a full emergency generator backup system with fuel storage capacity for one week of continuous operation at full load, ensuring resilience and uninterrupted facility function during extreme weather events.
Client Satisfaction & Benefits
The project delivered a modern, secure, and resilient juvenile justice facility designed to withstand coastal weather challenges while providing a safe and efficient environment for both staff and juvenile occupants. The combination of advanced HVAC systems, emergency power infrastructure, and comprehensive life-safety systems ensures long-term operational stability.
Advanced Technology :Key features include a central utility plant with water-cooled chillers, gas-fired boilers, and a hurricane-ready emergency generator system designed for one-week runtime at full load—offering reliability and protection in one of Louisiana’s most storm-affected regions.
