United States Courthouse
- Lafayette, Louisiana
Technical Hurdles:The United States Courthouse is a 204,000-square-foot, five-story facility with parking for 50 vehicles. ADG provided full mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection system design for this secure, multi-purpose federal building located in downtown Lafayette. The facility houses offices for nine federal judges, U.S. Marshals, U.S. Senators, and U.S. Attorneys, requiring high-performance systems that meet strict federal standards for security, functionality, and redundancy. Designing and integrating a self-contained indoor firing range added specialized HVAC, safety, and environmental control challenges.
Logistical Constraints:Security requirements for a federal facility meant strict coordination of contractor access, material deliveries, and system installations. The inclusion of varied spaces — from judicial chambers and office suites to secure holding and training areas — required careful zoning of mechanical and electrical systems. Integrating the firing range into the building’s infrastructure demanded precise engineering to manage ventilation, safety, and noise mitigation without impacting surrounding areas.
