Technical Hurdles:The renovation and expansion of M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field Baseball Stadium at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette required a two-phase approach to minimize disruption to the baseball season. Phase I involved the installation of new high-performance stadium lighting, completed before the 2016 season. Phase II included the demolition of the existing grandstand and the construction of a new grandstand with upgraded concessions, a club room, suites, press box, and two concession decks behind the existing baseline stands. The challenge was to integrate modern amenities and infrastructure while preserving the stadium’s historic character and fan-friendly atmosphere.
Logistical Constraints:Tight construction timelines were critical to ensure Phase I lighting upgrades were completed in time for the season opener. Phase II required careful sequencing to allow for the demolition and rebuilding of major stadium structures without impacting the surrounding facilities. Coordinating the installation of electrical and mechanical systems for concessions, hospitality spaces, and suites in an outdoor sports venue environment added additional complexity.
