University of Louisiana at Lafayette Indoor Practice Facility

Technical Hurdles:Associated Design Group, Inc. provided MEP design services for the new 66,105-square-foot indoor practice facility at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The building features a full 100-yard football practice field under a 42-foot eave height, along with 11,700 square feet of shell space for basketball practice, locker and shower facilities, meeting areas, and coach’s offices. ADG engineered tailored HVAC and plumbing systems to meet the diverse demands of multiple athletic programs, ensuring proper air quality, comfort, and utility support for both large open training areas and enclosed support spaces.
Logistical Constraints:The design required balancing energy-efficient systems with the large-volume indoor football facility and more compact basketball and office areas. ADG designed DX A/C systems for the basketball and office zones, paired with wall fan ventilation for the football practice space to maintain indoor air quality. Plumbing design included showers, water closets, lavatories, and hose bibbs for wash-downs, meeting both high-usage athlete needs and facility maintenance requirements.
